Raising Dion is an original Netflix superhero-drama series based on author Dennis Liu’s comic book series of the same name. In 2015, the series was originally adapted into a short film and gained plenty of attention online. It just took a few years before Netflix ordered the shows for itself. Dennis Liu was involved in Raising Dion’s production, directed an episode of the series and acted as an executive producer as well. Based on the comic book and short film of the same name by Dennis Liu, the series follows single mom Nicole and son Dion as they struggle with the loss of Dion’s father, Mark. An already difficult situation becomes unlikely as Dion starts to manifest supernatural abilities, from the Matilda-esque ability to levitate his cereal to the capacity to teleport out of dangerous situations. Like any good strange forces that come from nowhere drama, Nicole must protect Dion from risky situations, such as unknown competitors or groups looking for the chance to investigate his skills alongside her husband’s best friend Pat.
The Raising Dion season 2 cast has not yet been confirmed by Netflix. We know that Alisha Wainwright and Ja’Siah Young are coming back for Season 2, and we’re expecting at least another appearance for Michael B. Jordan. We could also hope to see Jazmyn Simon and Sammi Haney in the new season, too. We might see another Jason Ritter cameo, but it will only be in flashbacks or if anything odd happens. We could also expect to see Griffin Robert Faulkner returning for the new season, who played Brayden Mills in the first season.
Our young superhero always wants to find a way to get his dad home for good, aside from the cliffhanger ending revealing who will be Dion’s enemy going into season 2. The young man still has a lot to learn about his talents, and if Dion is finally going to be a superhero, he’s going to face a lot of challenges along the way.
Season 2 of Raising Dion is coming to Netflix, but it will be a while before we see the new season. Production was expected to start sometime this year according to a source. We don’t know if the filming began before the pandemic of COVID-19, which shut down production all over the world. We should expect something by the end of 2021.
