The Congress labeled today 25th March 2023 as a “Black day” for Indian democracy and charged the ruling government with “strangulating” democracy by attempting to shut down Rahul Gandhi as well as other members of the opposition. The party leaders of the Congress declared. They are ready to fight this battle both legally and politically, and the party also unveiled a plan for widespread protests all over the nation.
Prior to the publication of the notification, Rahul Gandhi had arrived at the Lok Sabha in the morning and joined the meeting of Congress members of Parliament. He later tweeted, “I am fighting for the voice of India. I am ready to pay any price.”
Before the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Rahul Gandhi at an election rally of his party said: “I have a question. Why do all of them – all of these thieves – have Modi Modi Modi in their names? Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Narendra Modi. And if we search more Modis will come out.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP] was quick to denounce Rahul Gandhi’s 2019 remark regarding the Modi surname as an insult to Other Backward Classes [OBC], arguing that the Wayanad MP’s exclusion from Lok Sabha was the obvious result of the court order and reiterating that the law was the same for everyone.
While J.P. Nadda, the head of the BJP, claimed that the Congressman’s comments revealed a “pathetic and casteist mindset,”. Leaders of the Opposition who had previously kept distinct themselves from the Congress party, including Mamata Banerjee of the TMC, Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, K. Chandrashekhar Rao of the BRS, and Arvind Kejriwal of the AAP, came out in favour of Mr. Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi won’t be allowed to run in elections for the following eight years. Unless the sentence is overturned by a higher court
