The Queen’s Gambit was just meant to be one time — but can Anya Taylor-Joy’s Golden Globe win change that? The actress opened about the chance while speaking with ET’s Kevin Frazier shortly after winning Best Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

“Perhaps,” she explained. “Not to forgive anyone, but we simply never thought about it. It was always a sapling to shrub transition. You see her grow, you leave her at a fantastic location. So we were really surprised when people were like,’ Where’s season 2?

Taylor-Joy stars as orphaned chess prodigy Beth Harmon from the Netflix series, which also won Best Video Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television at Sunday’s Golden Globes.

“Among my favorite things about her was because she was raised in this interesting way, she never really saw her sex as something that told her what she might or couldn’t want. And I really enjoyed playing that, particularly in the context of the’60s,” Taylor-Joy stated of her character. “So I believe more than playing a powerful girl, I feel very honored to have played such an intriguing, complex person. And I’m very proud of that.”

“I am just so grateful that people joined to the story and correlated with this as far as they did because she means so much to me,” she added. “Whenever you do a project, it sort of feels as if you are throwing your baby out of a window and if folks catch it, that’s just the best feeling in the world.”

The celebrity traded Beth’s reddish hair for long blond locks at Sunday’s ceremony and wore Dior Haute Couture.

“We’ve had so much pleasure,” she said of becoming ready for the big night. “We have treated this entire experience like prom because I never went to prom, so we’ve had a really good time. And the benefit of being in the area is that I got to change outfits, so I got two outfits tonight, which feels pretty cool.”

So far as her after-Globes plans: “I think I am going to breathe for a heartbeat and try and comprehend what’s going on and then I am going to put on some music, have a dance with my best friends, and likely end up in bed with a grilled cheese viewing a movie,” Taylor-Joy shared. “That is kind of the fantasy at this time.”
