Puss in Boots is an aesthetically stunning animated film. It features the legendary swashbuckling cat in a fascinating remake that takes audiences on an exciting voyage between life and death.

The endearing cat icon is returning to the big screen (2011), a decade and a half after his spin-off. The swashbuckling feline was first featured in Shrek 2 (2004). And after stealing scenes in the animated sequel, he was all but assured excursions of his own. The passage of time has forced Puss to confront his mortality. Because, in this most recent adventure, he is on his final breath.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish – A Thought-Provoking Exploration of Life and Death with Improved 3D Experience

Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado co-direct Puss in Boots The Last Wish. It is a surprisingly profound and compelling examination of life and death. The movie, played by Antonio Banderas, who is often unflappable, must learn to deal with living life to the fullest and meeting Death. The team upgraded every section of the movie to ensure that it looks and feels great in 3D.

Puss panics and flees to hide in the home of an elderly cat lady named Mama Luna (voiced by Da’Vine Joy Randolph), burying the remains of his former existence, when he is met by Death himself in the form of a big, menacing wolf (Wagner Moura). To survive, the skinny little dog Perrito (voiced by Harvey Guillén) disguises himself as a cat. However, Goldilocks (voiced by Florence Pugh) and The Three Bears Crime Family (voices of Olivia Colman, Ray Winstone, and Samson Kayo) are trying to enlist him to steal the map of the last wishing star from Big Jack Horner, calling him back to the adventures of his youth (voice of John Mulaney).

Puss sets out on a separate mission to look for the star in the Dark Forest because he is now certain he can recover his nine lives. Along the journey, he crosses paths with Kitty Softpaws, a former lover who still holds grudges against him for their last meeting (voiced by Salma Hayek Pinault). The movie has a gratifying conclusion that implies Puss’s adventures haven’t yet ended.
