On Friday 18/07/2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally open a number of railway projects in Gujarat. The newly refurbished Gandhinagar Capital railway station, the recently electrified Surendranagar-Pipavav segment, and the gauge modified cum electrified Mahesana-Varetha line are among these important projects. PM Modi will also launch two new trains between Gandhinagar Capital and Varetha: the Gandhinagar Capital-Varanasi Superfast Express and the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) service trains.
“At 4:30 PM tomorrow, 16th July, a range of interesting development works will be inaugurated in Gujarat. These works cover the environment, nature, railways, and science,” PM Modi tweeted on Thursday.
According to a government news release, the Gandhinagar train station would now have world-class amenities on par with major airports. It is now a disabled-friendly station with a dedicated parking area, a separate ticketing desk, and ramps and lifts. The station’s cutting-edge external design will include daily themed illumination with a total of 32 options. The station will also hold a five-star hotel that will be operated by a private company, and the entire structure will be built with green construction elements. The upgrade was completed at a cost of Rs. 71 crore.
Surendranagar’s Pipavav Section was electrified to relieve congestion in the yards of Ahmedabad, Viramgam, and Surendranagar. The project will let freight move seamlessly from Palanpur, Ahmedabad, and other regions of the country to Pipavav Port without changing traction. The entire project cost a total of 289 crores to finish.
The 55-kilometer Mahesana-Varetha Gauge conversion contains 10 stations, including Visnagar, Vadnagar, Kheralu, and Varetha, each with four newly constructed station structures. This was completed at a cost of 293 crores, with the electrification work coming in at a cost of 74 crores.
The Prime Minister discussed the initiatives on Twitter. “I have always wanted our Railway Stations to be of top quality, where apart from travels there is a boost to commerce, hospitality and more. One such effort has been made in Gandhinagar. The upgraded station will be inaugurated tomorrow,” he tweeted.
In Gujarat Science City, PM Modi will officially open the Aquatics and Robotics Gallery, as well as the Nature Park. “You would love visiting the Nature Park. It houses a Mist Garden, Chess Garden, Selfie Points, Sculpture Park, and an outdoor maze. I especially call upon parents to take their children here,” tweeted PM Modi.
