Season five of Outlander may just have dropped on Netflix Australia, but it is safe to state that we’re more than ready for season six. Blame it upon our generation’s need for immediate gratification, or the simple fact that this series is simply that great (a bit of column A, little column B), but we have been primed and prepared since it was announced back in 2018 that the show had been revived for a fifth and sixth time.
With production only just starting — without a guarantee there won’t be more delays down the line — there is no official premiere date set yet. If everything stays on schedule, we are probably looking at a late 2021 or early 2022 return for the series. What we do understand is that Season 6 will be 12 episodes long.
Your favorites will return for the new year. Balfe, Heughan, Skelton, and Rankin have all returned to set, along with John Bell as Young Ian, Cesar Domboy as Fergus, and Lauren Lyle as Marsali. Additional cast members for Season 6 continue to be announced.
Outlander Season 6 will premiere on Starz at a later date. Meanwhile, if you want to catch up on or rewatch Outlander, all five seasons are on the Starz app, and Seasons 1-4 can be streamed on Netflix. The show can also be streamed on Amazon Prime Video or Hulu using a Starz add-on subscription.
Matthew B Roberts, in the future, explained why Laura Donnelly’s character wasn’t in the previous installations of Outlander. He clarified that it was very “hard to make it all work together.”
The showrunner continued that the actress was not accessible when the narrative returned to Lallybroch. He explained they were hoping to receive her but, they didn’t have all the access.
Accordingly, they made alterations in the narrative to make everything work. He added that this sort of scenario “occasionally” happen, and they just had to adapt.
