It is official: Netflix teen drama On My Block will soon be returning for a fourth series, with all the bittersweet caveat that this is going to be the final season.
The LA-based show is one of many adolescent dramas to have gone down a storm on the streamer in recent years, using its comedy, realistic portrayal of timely societal issues, and diverse cast all coming into praise.
The prior series arrived in March 2020, also finished with a time leap to the future — so fans will be desperate to learn what will happen next.
Read on for everything we know about season four of On My Block.
On My Block season, 4 is coming to Netflix sometime shortly.
right that production will wrap around June 2021 about the new season, well, that implies we could see On My Block season 4 on Netflix at the end of the year. That would be possible using the typical six-month gap between the ending of production and the release on Netflix we see new seasons of Netflix shows.
However, I am expecting things to take somewhat longer than that. First of all, it looks like Netflix includes a stacked lineup to the end of the year, so adding another show then is likely not the best company move.
In addition to that, production could be delayed. We’re seeing a lot of delays and filming taking longer than usual during the pandemic. If this occurs, you can pretty much rule out a late 2021 release date.
I believe it’s a lot more likely that we will see On My Block season 4 in March 2022, roughly one year from when production starts.
The following are all returning for around four: Monse (Sierra Capri), Cesar (Diego Tinoco), Ruby (Jason Genao), Jamal (Brett Gray), Jasmine (Jessica Marie Garcia), and Spooky (Julio Macias), amongst others.
Season three saw the buddies kidnapped from the Santos gang and made to find the mob’s creator Lil’ Ricky.
It is unknown exactly what the plot of year four would be at this stage — though there are several ongoing threads such as Monse and Cesar’s budding relationship, Cesar’s troubled relationship with brother Spooky along Jamal’s all-around hilarity. We expect the Santos gang is going to be involved once more…
