Vijay’s Master is one of the most anticipated films in Kollywood this year. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was slated to release worldwide on April 9. The film’s release was postponed due the novel coronavirus pandemic. A few days ago, the Tamil Nadu government gave permission to re-open theatres in the state with 50 per cent occupancy. Now, reports are rife that Master might release for Diwali.
Producer Bharathiraja, who runs a film body, recently revealed that no films will release in theatres due to the row in paying VPF. Since 12 years of fee was paid, producers are not willing to play the Virtual Print Fee (VPF). So, this makes it clear that neither Master nor any other small and medium-budget films will release in theatres this Diwali.
In a recent media interaction, Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekhar revealed that Master will release on Pongal 2021. The coronavirus cases are on the decline in Tamil Nadu and if the trend continues, it will be a good sign for the film to release in theatres.
Master stars Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj in the lead roles.
