Max is on a mission to get rid of systemic racism in the hospital New Amsterdam Season 3, Episode 6. Here’s how to see the episode live.
If there’s one thing a lot of TV shows have focused on recently, it’s race. Systemic racism is mostly a subject for TV crime dramas, but it’s come up in a lot of other shows lately, including medical dramas. It is time for it to develop in New Amsterdam.
Max finds out that the Black physicians at the hospital have been paid a good deal less compared to their white counterparts. This includes Reynolds and Sharpe. Obviously, he sees an issue and he wants to fix it.
Max does have a savior complex in general. He wants to help, feel like he is doing something great. The problem is that his repairs tend to do more damage than good, at least initially. That’s going to occur. The problem is he is not listening to the men and women who need the aid.
While Max deals with systemic racism in the hospital, Bloom is dealing with a patient that states that not everything is as it seems. What does that mean?
It might be that a patient has a mental health condition that they need help treating. However, it could also be another systemic racism storyline. Is it possible that this can be a patient that has been disregarded by other physicians because of their race?
Meanwhile, Sharpe has to cope with more household problems. Only episodes passed, she learned her half-brother was sick, and that situation isn’t exactly over just yet.
