Michael Jackson, Meghan Thee Stallion And Blackpink’s Liza’s Songs Making A Hit On The Hot 100

Adele and her music dominance

Adele rules the Hot 100 once again this week with her unstoppable ” Easy on me.” And she may very well continue to do so for some ti,e to come. In fact, with her new album 30 arriving in a little less than a week. Chances are the smash will hold onto its control of the most competitive songs ranking in the U.S for a while.

Behind the British superstar, one track finds its way out the top 10 on the Hot 100 for the first time, a legendary performer returns on the list and one of the biggest names in the k-pop space makes history with her latest single.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart

No. 10 – Glass Animal -“Heat Waves”

An unlikely hit, Glass Animals collects their first top 10 single on the Hot 100 with “Heat Waves,” which has taken a long, long time to climb to its new lofty position. The tune jumps from No. 13 to No. 10 in its forty-second frame on the ranking, and in doing so, it breaks the record for the longest trip to the highest tier. Before the alternative act broke into the top 10, Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” held this bit of Billboard history, as the country tune needed 38 weeks to become a top 10 smash.

No. 19 – Michael Jackson – “Thriller”

The highest-charting song on this week’s Hot 10 that wasn’t present on the tally last time around is Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” The spooky single returns to the ranking following its annual uptick in sales and streams as Halloween comes around again. The legendary hit reappears at No. 19, and it will likely be gone in a week or two.

No. 81 – Yung Miami – “Rap Freaks”

The City Girls rapper appears on the Hot 100 for the first time on her own, as her latest single “Rap Freaks” doesn’t feature her bandmate JT. The just-released tune launches at No. 81 this week. As a member of City Girls, Miami has previously reached the chart with four songs.

No. 82 – Megan Thee Stallion – “Eat It”

As her new compilation Something for Thee Hotties opens at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, Megan Thee Stallion also returns to the Hot 100, not that she’s been gone very long. One track from the set, which features a number of unreleased cuts, lands on the chart, as “Eat It” opens at No 82. The rapper has now appeared on the Hot 100 with 22 different songs, with seven debuting this year alone.

No. 93 – Lisa – “Money”

Last week, Lisa made history by debuting her single “Money” on the Hot 100, becoming just the second solo female K-pop artist to send more than one tune to the tally. Now, the Blackpink singer proves her immense popularity once again as the smash holds on. With just two weeks on the Hot 100 to its credit, “Money” already stands out as the longest-charting track of all time by a woman working in the K-pop space on her own.
