Manish Sisodia arrest case in Delhi Liquor ‘scam’moves SC, matter hearing today

 

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, on Sunday in connection with an alleged liquor scam case. CBI took custody of Sisodia, who is also the Education Minister of the national capital, after several hours of questioning.  The arrest came as a shocking turn of events.

On Tuesday Manish Sisodia approached the Supreme Court and challenged his arrest and the CBI’s manner of investigation in the alleged liquor scam case. The Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud will hear the matter at 3:50pm on Tuesday.

Sisodia was sent for five days of CBI custody by a special court in Delhi for implicit interrogation to untangle the alleged scam. The Rouse Avenue Court directed that the CBI must conduct the interrogation of the AAP leader under CCTV coverage following the guidelines laid by the Supreme Court and preserve the footage.

The Court stated keeping in view of the circumstances, the accused is to remain under the CBI custody till 4th March for further extensive interrogation.
