Mamta Banerjee is an Indian Politician and founder of the political party (AITC or TMC) All India Trinamool Congress. She is the 9th Chief Minister of West Bengal. And the only women Chief Minister to have two consecutive wins. She disassociate herself from Indian National Congress(INC) in 1997 after which she started her own political party.
She is popularly known as Didi (elder sister) in Bengal. Mamta created history when she had a sweeping victory in 2011 Legislative assembly.
She was born on 5 January 1955 in Kolkata, West Bengal in a lower middle class family. When she was 9 years old she lost her father as a kid. Mamta was always interested in artistic passion and taught herself painting and poetry. In addition she graduated in the field of history. Banerjee entered politics at a very young age she was part of Congress Party when she was in school. Her rise up the political ladder in the 1970s was quick and she was made the Mahila Congress General Secretary from 1976 to 1980.
