A peep into the history of Punjabi cinema–

Punjab and Punjabi films are all-time favourites, and people of all ages enjoy them. The majority of Punjabi films are romantic, but some are also suspenseful and dramatic. Punjab has long been known as the traditional heart of the Punjabi film industry. Daughters of Today was the first Punjabi film (1928). When India gained independence from Britain in 1947, a few Punjabi films were produced in Lahore.

The 1950s saw the continued development of Punjabi cinema, with musical hits such as Yamla Jat (1940), Kankan De Ohle (1942), Gul Baloch (1944), Teri Yaad (1948), Hoor Pari (1950), and Heer Sial (1950). (1957). Punjabi movies are India’s most profitable and largest entertainment industry. It has a history of about 100 years and is considered India’s oldest entertainment industry.

This year 2022 has given many pending films an early warning to hit the theatres in a more profitable manner.

Here are some of the Punjabi movies which are going to be released this year- 

1. Bhoot Uncle Tussi Great Ho- 

Announced in the year 2020, the movie ‘Bhoot Uncle Tussi Great Ho’ is all set to win thousands of hearts. The film is gearing up to hit the theatres this February. The stars of the film are Raj Babbar, Jaya Prada, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol and many more.

2. Rowdy Singh-

Alam Gahir directed the drama film. Gaurav Kakkar, Ankita Saili, Mahabir Bhullar, and Sunny Gill play the lead roles in the film. Ashwani Kumar is the film’s producer. This is one of the most eagerly anticipated films in the Punjabi film industry. The theatrical release date is set for August 26th, 2022.

3. Ziddi Jatt: Chapter 1-

The film Ziddi Jatt: Chapter 1 is ready to go, starring actors Ranjha Vikram Singh and Sinnga. Orion Studios and Running Horses Films present the film. This film will bring the Sand Mining Mafia of Punjab to the big screen for the first time in India.

4. Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga –

Gippy Grewal has announced that his next project, yaar mera titliyan warga, will be released soon. Last year, the film was announced. This film will be released in theatres worldwide on August 25th, 2022. This film also stars Gippy, Tanu, Karamjit Anmol, Raj Dhaliwal, and others.

5. Oye Makhna-

The film is set to be release on September 9 in cinema halls. ‘Oye Makhna’ stars Ammy Virk and Tania Singh. Who are also teaming up for the fourth time. The movie also features Guggu Gill and Sidhika Sharma.

6. Babe Bhangra Paunde Ne-

Diljit Dosanjh is set to appear in the new Punjabi film ‘Babe Bhangra Paunde Ne.’ He announced the film by posting the official poster to his Instagram account.

The film will release worldwide on September 30 later this year. The director of this movie is Amarjeet Singh Saron whereas the writer is Naresh Kkathooria.
