The popular American game show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” has an official Hindi version called KBC. The first episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ started on Star Plus in 2000 on 3rd July. So far 14 seasons of this show have come. This third season is hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. Apart from this, Amitabh Bachchan has been hosting all the seasons till now. In fact, in 2007, Amitabh Bachchan refused to do the show, after which the third season of the show was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. The makers expected that this time too the show would be the same hit, but it did not happen. The TRP ratings of the show had taken a drastic dip and the audience was not ready to accept Shah Rukh Khan as the new host, after which Amitabh Bachchan was brought back again for the new season.

Prize money reached from one crore to 7.5 crore
The show started with prize money of Rs 1 crore. The second season of the show started in the year 2005. For the second season and third season (2007) the prize money was increased to Rs 2 crore.
The fourth season of the show started in 2010 when the prize money was brought back to Rs 1 crore, but a jackpot question was added, answering which the contestant could win Rs 5 crore.
In the 7th season in 2013, the prize money was increased to Rs 7 crore. In the 14th season, once again the prize money was increased to Rs 7.5 crore.
