Vikram Batra (Siddharth Malhotra)1. Captain Vikram Batra was played by Siddharth Malhotra in the film. Batra hoisted the Indian flag at Point 5140. It was one of the most difficult peaks in the Kargil region. Batra’s statement during the mission was ‘Yeh Dil Maange More!’ On 7 July 1999, Batra was martyred fighting Pakistani troops around Area Ledge, Point 4875 in the Kargil district. He also got Param Vir Chakra posthumously.

2. Lt. Col. Y.K. Joshi (Shataf Fig)- During the Kargil War, Yogesh Kumar Joshi was ranked Lieutenant Colonel, then he retired with the rank of Lieutenant General. Recently, he has been made the Director General of Contemporary China Studies in the Ministry of External Affairs. He has been awarded Vir Chakra, Uttam Yudh, Sena, and Ati Vishisht Seva Award.
3. Captain Sanjeev Jamwal (Shiv Pandit)Captain Batra’s sour-sweet relationship with Captain Sanjeev was shown in the film. Sanjeev Singh Jamwal has now become Colonel from Captain. He also got Vir Chakra for showing gallantry during the Kargil War.

4. Captain Rajeev Kapoor (Himanshu)
Major Rajiv Kapoor was shown as Vikram Batra’s partner in the film. Rajiv has now become Brigadier. He is still serving the country as an army officer.
5. Naib Subedar Bansilal (Anil Charanjit)
Subedar Bansilal was also martyred during the Kargil War. He was awarded the Shaurya Chakra, the army’s third-highest gallantry award.
6. Subedar Raghunath Singh (Raj Arjun)
Raghunath Singh appeared as Subedar in the film, after which he retired as Captain. He was also awarded the Vir Chakra. But After the martyrdom of Capt. Vikram Batra only took command of his troop.
7. Lt. Col. Subrata Mukherjee (Abhiroy Singh)The film also featured Lieutenant Colonel Subrata Mukherjee. During that time he was working in the Uri sector of Kargil.
