Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film ‘Emergency’ follows the events of the Emergency declared by Indira Gandhi in 1975, which is considered to be one of the darkest times in independent India. Under this, all civil rights including the freedom of the press were curtailed.
Talking about the film, Kangana Ranaut has said, ‘During the filming of Emergency, learning about the events that unfolded in 1975 gave me a deeper understanding of Indian history. It is referred to as the darkest period in Indian history, but few people comprehend why Indira ji made this decision. I want to show that side of the story as well in the movie. I am sure, after watching the film, many people will see those events from a different perspective.
