Kangan Ranaut is an Indian actress and filmmaker who work in Hindi films. She was born on 23 March 1987. She completed her education at New York Film Academy. Ranaut hails from a small town in Himachal Pradesh, initially aspired to become a doctor at the insistence of her parents. She was determined to build her career, then relocated to Delhi at the age of sixteen and took up modeling for a brief amount of time. After she was trained under the theatre director Arvind Gaur, Ranaut made her feature film debut in the year 2006 thriller Gangster, for which she was awarded the Film Fare Award for the best Female Debut. She also received praise for portraying an emotionally intense character in the dramas Woh Lamhe 2006, Life in a metro 2007, and Fashion 2008.
Thalaivii is an upcoming Indian multilingual biographical film about the life of J Jayalalithaa, actress and politition who served six times as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with Kangana Ranaut playing the lead role as Jaylalithaa. The film is shot simultaneously shot in many languages like Tamil, Hindi and Telegu. This film is directed by A.L. Vijay and written by Vishnu Induri and Shailesh R Singh of Vibri Motion Picture and Karma Media and Entertainment respectively. The film’s trailer was released on March 23 of this year.
