All of this might surely sound unbelievable and absurd but to all of our amazement, it’s true and it has happened. Khoirul Anam is an Indonesian man, found himself or rather made himself on top of the trends list. As he married his rice cooker. Yes, no doubt that’s absolute and one hundred per cent correct. On Facebook, Khoirul distributed the pictures from his wedding with the rice cooker and no prizes for that the post has gone viral on social media. This Indonesian man Khoirul Anam surely and successfully created a stir on social media by ‘marrying’ his rice cooker.
Anam shared a series of pictures last week that shows him adorned up in fancy wedding clothes for the function. The cooker that he married was a white-coloured rice cooker. And that cooker was also ornamented up for the occasion it appeared alongside Mr Anam in a sheer white veil.
The multiple photos that he shared on Facebook confer them resting side-by-side as the marriage was consecrated. In one of the pics, we all can see him kissing the cooker. In another, the appliance is placed next to him as he signs their marriage papers. All those pictures that were made obtainable on social media, Khoirul was seen dressed in traditional white attire while the rice cooker was also decorated with a sheer white veil.
For the ceremony, the rice cooker was placed beside Khoirul while in one of the images, he also kissed the cooker. ‘Both’ signed the marriage papers as well. In a short caption accompanying the post, Mr Anam said he decided to marry his rice cooker as it was “Fair, obedient, loving and good at cooking.”
The pics sparked much amusement on Facebook, collecting nearly 10,000 ‘likes’ and over 1200 comments.
Bizarre as it may sound, the story only got stranger when, four days later, Mr Anam ‘divorced’ the kitchen appliance, citing that it could only cook rice.
The Indonesian man announced the divorce on Facebook. The whole wedding and the consequent divorce was nothing more than a social media performance for entertainment. All the websites that are local from that area reported that Mr Anam is a well-known celebrity in Indonesia. And also that he often engages in gauche stunts for the entertainment of his followers. Estimating by the excitement that his ‘wedding’ to the rice cooker created, it seems like he did succeed in his crusade for viral social media fame.
Now, around four days after the ‘wedding’, Khoirul, in a post on Facebook, announced that he had divorced the rice cooker because it could only cook rice.
The photo that got more than 4,000 likes and 9,000 shares quickly went viral on Facebook, after which it was revealed that the whole thing was obviously a prank and only meant for entertainment. Local Malaysian news sites reported that Khoirul was a popular figure there, and often engaged in bizarre stunts to create content. He’s certainly living up to his reputation.
