The National Award-winning writer, director and producer, Hansal Mehta, who is well known for his artistic cinema is set to thrill the audience yet again. The film “Faraaz” is believed to be based on an attack in Bangladesh by a local terrorist group on 1st July 2016 at night.
The group of five assaulters discreetly entered the Holey Artisan Bakery located in Dhaka and starting persistent firing. In the meanwhile, they hijacked the place. They were equipped with deadly weapons and kept people present in the café as hostage for more than 12 hours. This activity-filled with communal hatred killed 29 individuals, including foreigners, bakery staff, locals and policemen.

The audience will come across two debutants in the movie Faraaz as protagonists, including Aditya Rawal who is the son of veteran actor, Paresh Rawal. Plus, it will feature Zahaan Kapoor, son of Kunal Kapoor or grandson of legendary Shashi Kapoor.

The action-packed movie is produced by none other than Anubhav Sinha and the owner of T-Series Gulshan Kumar. Moreover, the leading stars, as well as the director or producers, have shared an introductory video of twenty-two seconds of the thriller film.
Hansal Mehta took Instagram to share his thoughts on the movie along with a video. He added, “ In the face of adversity, humanity wins! First look of Faraaz, based on the true event of Bangladesh’s 7/16 terror attack, a story that I’ve held close to my heart for nearly three years now !!”.
It’s apparent that he was perpetually working on this script for a long time and certainly has put his soul into the film within these periods of time.
Bhushan Kumar also shared his opinion and said “When one is making a film like ‘Faraaz’, the first mainstream film made on this horrific attack, from ensuring that we are authentic to the event to getting the right mix of talent, our endeavour is to truly do justice to the subject and elevate the material to a satiating and thrilling cinematic experience.”
While Anubhav Sinha quoted on his social media handle “ A human story based on one of the darkest days in the modern period! A story of terror, hope, loss and faith!
The video displays the bomb blast, followed by the clip of a burning bakery. Additionally in the video, there’s a voiceover that says “ Insaan jab mazhab ke naam pe maarega na, wo mazhab ko maarega, Insaniyat ko maarega !” along with the sound effect of continuous gunshots.
Reason Behind Dreadful Terrorist Attack
The narration of the background blends perfectly with the situation as the attackers belonged to a particular Islamic group located in Bangladesh. They hold grudges against foreigners or minority groups and were complaining to local staff that these travellers are deteriorating their religious ethics. The report says that the terrorists were rather gentle and compassionate towards locals or people who followed Islam.
They were straightforwardly saying that those who are Bengalis and particularly Muslims doesn’t require to be feared. It is clear from their statement as stated by witnesses “Bengali people, come out,” “If you’re Muslims, come out.”
Hansal Mehta never fails to amaze their audience with his pure knitted scripts and talented direction. The shooting started in June 2021. Thereby, we’d be looking forward to the thrilling experience expectantly this year.
