Great expectations for ‘the Boys’: The creator is having a great time developing season 3

After sneaking into the best series of 2020 with its brutal second season and being one of the original Amazon Prime Video series par excellence, The Boys is one of the most anticipated premieres of the new year – or perhaps the next? It is just around the corner. So, how could it be otherwise, its creator Eric Kripke is putting all his efforts to develop a third installment with which to overcome again. If the plans of the team that created Supernatural remain as they are, season 3 of The Boys will begin shooting in the first months of 2021.

The details, at the moment, are scarce, although we do know some data that we love, such as the incorporation of Jensen Ackles – one of the Winchester brothers in Supernatural – as Soldier Boy, an old school superhero, or that the new episodes will be more based on comics, they will bring enough problems to The Patriot and that in them we will have back some characters that we love.

Already when dismissing season 2, the creator of the series described the third installment of The Boys in a blunt way: “Season 3 is going to be fucking crazy.” Now, Kripke has explained in statements to Consequence of Sound collected that the script writing process is being really “fun and joyful.” What a great time, come on.

“I know, obviously, that each season of a television series gets tougher because all of your best original instincts to explore have already been explored,” he explains. So you have to start going to other areas that you had not thought to go to first, and those are always more difficult to feel as big and fascinating as the first ones. So it’s quite a challenge. ”

The two seasons of The Boys released to date are in the Amazon Prime Video catalog . At the moment, there is no date for the third season, but perhaps it is safer to hope that the premiere will be finished in 2022. Looking back for previous examples, the production of the first batch of episodes was completed in approximately five months, while the second was completed in six. In both cases, the premiere took place ten months later.
