Global Star Priyanka Chopra Remembers Her Old Days From Shooting Andaaz And Getting Yelled At The Sets

Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Andaaz completes 18 years on 2021 “The fresh & youthful elixir of Beauty Queens Lara Dutta & Priyanka Chopra who were introduced opposite Akshay Kumar and Nadeem Shravan’s smash-hit music ensured its resounding success,” says filmmaker Suneel Darshan, who produced Andaaz directed by Raj Kanwar.

She followed the footsteps of Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai and stepped into Bollywood industry .Her debut movie was The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003),  but it was Raj Kanwar’s blockbuster hit Andaaz that actually kickstarted her acting career.

Considered as one of the most admired and highest paid actress. Priyanka started receiving offers from Bollywood after her epoch-making triumph in the 50th edition of the Miss World pageant in 2000. Recalling her initial days in the Indian film industry. Priyanka revealed that she was reprimanded while shooting a romantic song in the Akshay Kumar starrer.

A video that went viral on the internet .Priyanka was seen opening up about her initial days. And how she struggled and found it difficult to get the rhythm right with the choreographer.

Reminiscing about the incident, Priyanka revealed that Saroj Khan’s son Raju Khan scolded her on the sets of the movie as she failed to complete a shot even after 40 takes! 

“That was one of the first songs I shot and there were multiple things. I had to achieve at that point. Once the 40-something take had happened and I didn’t get it right… I remember Raju Khan was the choreographer, he is Saroj (Khan) ji’s son. He threw his mic down and said, ‘Just because you’re Miss World, you think you can become an actress? Go learn how to dance and then come back and perform,” Priyanka said.

Priyanka said, “Andaaz will always have a special place in my heart. Because it was one the first films I signed and started filming for. I will always remember Suneel Darshan & Raj Kanwar fondly for taking a chance on a newbie with no experience, Lara and Akshay for being such understanding and supportive co-stars. As Lara has said before, we were such kaccha papads but this film gave us the confidence. To believe that we could actually make this dream a reality. To this day, I remember standing in the back of the theatre. Watching in shock and awe as the audience reacted so positively to the film. Thank you to the whole team for everything and for the most amazing memories.”

She added saying, Luckily, Akshay’s wife went into labour at that point. So the schedule was cut short and we came back to India. PC remember going to Pandit Veeru Krishnan’s class and started learning kathak. She did about six hours every single day and then when went back, for the next schedule . Priyanka knew so much more.

PC also shared the lesson she learnt, “Even if you don’t know something, if you have the ambition to be somewhere, if you prepare yourself, you have the ability to be better than everyone else.” as stated in HT.

Andaaz, released in 2003, is amongst the 7 movies Suneel Darshan & Akshay Kumar teamed up for besides Jaanwar, Ek Rishtaa-The Bond of Love, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, Talaash-the hunt begins, Mere Jeevan Saathi and Dosti-Friends Forever.

Both the movie & its songs continue to draw unprecedented patronage on the Music, Satellite, Tv & Digital platforms even today
