The Game of Thrones universe continues to expand. In the coming years we will not only see the premiere of Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon , fans of the history of Westeros can expect much more, as they warned. HBO has announced that it is working on an adaptation of The Tales of Dunk and Egg . A prequel that follows the adventures of Sir Duncan the Tall and a young Aegon V Targaryen set 90 years before George RR Martin’s unfinished saga .
While fans of fiction are looking forward to this production, it is possible that the author is fuming at the news. As ComicBook recalls , Martin declared in 2017 that he did not want The Tales of Dunk and Egg to be adapted until the saga was finished to avoid what happened with Game of Thrones . Remember that the Winds of Winter and Dreams of Spring have yet to be published to complete A Song of Ice and Fire so the last seasons of the creation of DB Weiss and David Benioff did not follow the events that the writer had planned.
“We all know how slow I am and how fast a television series can be. I don’t want to repeat what happened with Game of Thrones , that the series stayed ahead of the books. When the day comes when I have finished counting them all the tales of Dunk and Egg, then we will do a series, but for that day there is much left “, Martin continued explaining.
On the other hand, House of the Dragon continues with George RR Martin himself as co-creator, in addition to Ryan J. Condal . The series is set 300 years before the events related in Game of Thrones and will have the Targaryen family at its center. The cast consists of Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Paddy Considine as King Viserys, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen.
