Floyd Mayweather to Face John Gotti III in Exhibition Boxing Fight on June 11

Floyd Mayweather is all ready to face the champion John Gotti 3 in an exhibition match on June 11.

According to a press statement sent by Mayweather’s promoter on Wednesday, the legendary boxing champion will meet pro boxer and MMA fighter John Gotti III on June 11 in Sunrise, Florida’s FLA Live Arena. He is ready to make a formal announcement in Miami on Thursday.

In August 2017, Mayweather with 50 wins and 0 losses with 27 knockouts, declared his retirement from professional boxing after he defeated the UFC superstar Conor McGregor. He has continued to engage in frequent fights ever since. The 46-year-old has competed against prominent individuals from a variety of sectors in exhibition battles. It included well-known YouTube sensations Logan Paul and Deji, RIZIN standout Mikuru Asakura, and kickboxing champion Tenshin Nasukawa.

In his most recent fight, Mayweather defeated reality TV personality and former Bellator competitor Aaron Chalmers in an exhibition that went eight rounds without a clear victor.

John Gotti III ready to faceoff Mayweather

John Gotti III was a great football player when he was younger and afterward turned to bodybuilding. Despite putting 260 pounds of muscle onto his 6’0″ frame, Gotti III still maintained a passion for mixed martial arts and aspired to be the “better athlete” of which his father had once bragged.

Professionally trained in both mixed martial arts and boxing, Gotti is 30 years old. His most recent defeat, a unanimous decision loss against Nick Alley in October 2020, leaves him with a 5-1 record in mixed martial arts.

Since then, Gotti has concentrated on boxing. On January 21, he knocked out Alex Citrowske to raise his record to 2-0.

John Gotti, Gotti’s grandfather, presided over the Gambino crime family from 1985 until his death in custody in 2002. John Gotti Jr. became the organization’s boss when his father John Gotti Sr. was imprisoned.

The event will be called “Last Name Matter”. Given that Mayweather and Gotti come from separate, though well-known, lines of ancestry.
