High school play and Emmy Award-winning series, Euphoria, is back with its second season. The intense drama based on an Israeli mini-series of the same name has been one of HBO’s most well-known shows.
Like the majority of other shows today, Euphoria is delayed due to this Covid-19 pandemic. Here’s all you that is known about the upcoming season.
Euphoria is an intense heavy drama which reveals the problems teenagers deal with today. Season 1 was about 17-year old drug addiction struggling woman Rue Bennett. The story moves along with her narration together with the lives of her classmates, including transgender crush Jules, camgirl Kat, popular Cassie, jock bully Nate, and his abused cheerleader girlfriend Maddy.
Season 1 ended with Rue and Jules deciding to leave town together. Rue changes her head, Jules leaves her in the station, and heartbroken she relapses into a stylized dance number. Also, Kat and Ethan get together, Cassie goes through with her abortion and Maddy finds out about the video Nate’s dad makes illicitly hooking up with Jules.
From the break between seasons, two particular episodes were created in quarantine with the restricted crew by showrunner Sam Levinson. They featured a focus on Rue after her relapse and how she is dealing with life at the first installment”Trouble Don’t Last Always”. Another one released in January 2021 was focused on Jules seeing her therapist named, “F**k Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob”.
These two were minimalist dialog pieces instead of the bombastic episodes of the chief series. While nothing much grows in the specials, it’s recommended to see them since they work on the character’s thinking and mind in the aftermath of Season 1.
Season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet. It was originally set for a March 2020 release. But due to the pandemic outbreak, everything got delayed by a year. Productions for Euphoria Season 2 were declared in March 2021 and the shooting started in April. As of this moment, the aim is to release by end of 2021.
As of now, you will find little to no details available of the next season coming. As far as the cast is concerned, all of the regular cast have either confirmed or so are on the verge. They comprise Zendaya as Rue Bennett, Hunter Schaffer as Jules Vaughn, Angus Cloud as Fezco, Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, Barbie Ferreira as Kat Hernandez, Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard and Storm Reid as Gia Bennett.
Also, Kelvin Harrison Jr., who had been presumed to become a part of Season 1 but pulled out, is predicted to maintain the second.
About the storyline, Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie told Stylecaster, “I can tease this, when you inquire about Season two, my heart drops”. She added, “At a you-guys-have-no-idea-what-you’re-going-to-watch way. Cassie needs to receive her shit together. I can’t say anything else. Cassie has a mad story in Season 2 I did not expect. Every time I read a new episode that Sam writes, my jaw is on the floor and I can’t feel this is something coming from a person’s mind. “
