Cibi Chakaravarthi’s directorial debut is Don, a 2022 Indian Tamil-language coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama film. It stars Sivakarthikeyan, S. J. Don was originally scheduled to be released on Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2022, but was later pushed back to 17 February 2022 to coincide with Sivakarthikeyan’s birthday. However, the film was confirmed to be released on March 25, 2022 in late January 2022. The release date was pushed back to avoid a clash with RRR, which was set to be released on the same day, and a new release date of 13 May 2022 was later announced. The film was finally released theatrically on 13 May 2022 in Tamil as Don and in Telugu as College Don.
The film grossed over 16 crore at the domestic box office on its first day of release. According to Pinkvilla, the film earned more than 8.5 crore in Tamil Nadu, 75 lakhs in Karnataka, 50 lakhs in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and 20 lakhs in the rest of India.
After two days in theatres, the film has grossed around 15 crore. On the third day of its release, the film surpassed the 30 crore mark at the box office. The film grossed 47.50 and 44.50 crores worldwide on the fourth and fifth days of its release, respectively. College Don, the Telugu version, earned 3.10 crore on its fifth day of release. By the end of the second week of its theatrical run, it grossed over 100 crore.
