Cyclone Gulab Took Two Life’s In Bihar And Injured One

Weather has been changing rapidly and it’s a known fact that cyclones has been hitting the country more than ever. The season of Cyclone and heavy rainfall is at peak and it has been hitting different states. There is alert in cities that are near to the coastal regions. Cyclone Gulab is hitting several regions and people are falling prey to the cyclone. It is advisable not to step out of the home.

Cyclone Gulab which hit India has now slow down its phase on Monday. The Cyclone led to heavy rainfall in Andra Pradesh. Many people lost their lives and livestock. Not only Odisha and Andra Pradesh suffered. But Bihar too join the list of the places affected by Cyclone.

Coming under the influence of Cyclone Gulab, many districts in Bihar, including Patna, have been witnessing light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday. As Cyclone Gulab has weakened into a depression, the weather department has predicted rainfall for the next 48 hours in Patna and several other districts.

As per the reports by the Times of India (TOI), Patna Meteorological Centre has even issued a warning for thunderstorms along with lightning for all districts over the next 24 hours.

On Sunday evening two siblings felled prey to this Cyclone and lost their lives. And one was injured due to lighting on Begusarai.

The deceased, residents of Baghwara village under Singhauna police station, were identified as Rahima Khatoon (10) and Mushkan Parveen (11) and the injured as Rani (11).

The three kids had gone in the forest to collect woods and leaves for cooking food. They went around 4pm and heavy rainfall fall started. All the three ran under a tree to protect themselves from rain. But the tree was struck by the lighting, which led to on spot dead of the two and left one injured.

The IMD has predicted that due to the weakening of Cyclone Gulab into a depression, several states of peninsular India, including Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Maharashtra, among others have come under the influence.

The officials are yet to issue a heavy rainfall warning for Bihar. An official from Patna Centre told TOI, “Few places in east Bihar and one or two places in the rest of the state are likely to witness light to moderate showers.”

He also revealed that Patna recorded rainfall of 0.8 mm on Monday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

In Orissa a fisherman was also killed by Cyclone Gulab. The fisherman was from Srikakulam District.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government Monday said Cyclone Gulab did not have much impact on the state following it made landfall in neighboring Andhra Pradesh. However, road connectivity was partially affected due to landslides and uprooting of trees in certain places of Gajapati, Koraput and Malkangiri districts.

The officials have asked everyone to stay at home and not go out until it’s very urgent.
