After captivating audiences with their respective K-pop groups’ unmissable beats and tunes, BTS’ Jimin and BIGBANG member Taeyang have collaborated on a new track called “Vibe.”

The teaser for the song, which will be released on January 13, 2023, has already got K-pop fans excited.

Taeyang and Jimin’s collaboration

The energetic 3-minute track combines R&B and pop music. Taeyang and singer-songwriter Vince wrote it together. “Vibe” also features Jimin, THEBLACKLABEL’s Teddy Park, Kush, and 24 as co-composers.

The song begins with the lines “Girl, you gotta know you got that vibe, your smile is like fine art,” and immediately sets the mood with the two idols dancing to groovy beats.
This is also the first time the BTS member and the BIGBANG member have collaborated. In fact, this comes shortly after Taeyang terminated his contract with YG Entertainment and relocated to its subsidiary agency THEBLACKLABEL in December 2022. It’s his first solo performance in six years.

The Jimin x Taeyang collaboration

“Vibe” is the two K-pop stars’ first collaboration. This track is even more special to BTS ARMY because it is Jimin’s first solo collaboration since the band members began their army enlistment and announced their intention to focus on their solo endeavors before returning together in 2025.

It will, however, be his second solo project outside of BTS; the first was an original soundtrack titled “With You” with Ha Sung-woon for the K-drama Our Blues. Taeyang, too, is taking a big step after leaving YG Entertainment.

The news of such a collaboration first spread in December 2022. Taeyang posted a couple of photos on Instagram (which have since been deleted) with the caption #2023.

On 11 January, THEBLACKLABEL released an 18-second teaser video for “Vibe” on social media handles, sending the internet into a frenzy.

This year is expected to be a year of solo projects for BTS members. Along with Jimin, Suga, Jungkook, and V are all expected to release solo albums. Suga is expected to join the South Korean military shortly after Jin.

It’s also an exciting time for BIGBANG. According to the Pinkvilla report, in addition to Taeyang, another member, Daesung, has decided to leave the parent company. As a result, only G-Dragon, the group’s leader, remains with YG Entertainment.
