This award-winning police procedural comedy series. It revolves around the experiences of the literary 99th Precinct of the NYPD in Brooklyn. The show was originally released on September 17, 2013, on Fox, but was cancelled after five seasons. Shortly, NBC picked up the show for the season, and that’s where it currently airs.
The series was praised for its smart comedy and also the entertaining dynamics involving Jake Peralta and Captain Raymond Holt. Since its beginning, the critics have enjoyed that the series addresses relevant and timely issues without undermining the comedic factor. The fans are eagerly awaiting to know what the future holds for Brooklyn Nine-Nine.’
‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ season 7 began on February 6, 2020, on NBC, with the season finale airing on April 23, 2020. The seventh season includes 13 episodes using a running time of 21-23 minutes each.
The series has been given the green light for season 8 in November 2019, but a specific release date is presently not known. Apart from the fact that the COVID-19 has thrown nearly all of the productions off the schedule, the upcoming season is delayed because finished scripts for four episodes were missing after the killing of George Floyd and the subsequent Black Lives Issue motion.
The authors of this critically acclaimed series felt it was essential to address these problems and consequently made a decision to realign the future episodes. The show is scheduled to release in 2021, as per the announcement on the show’s official Twitter account. Thus, we can expect Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s season 8 to release sometime by mid-2021.
Season 8 will include the return of all the important cast members. Including Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta), Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago), Terry Crews (Terry Jeffords), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle), and Andre Braugher (Captain Holt). Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller are also seen again as the eccentric pair, Hitchcock and Scully.
Chelsea Peretti, who plays Gina Linetti, will likely return as the sardonic civilian secretary Dina since Dan Goor is keen on getting her back to the show. The fan-favourite Craig Robinson (Doug Judy or the Pontiac Bandit) has made many guest appearances throughout the show; thus, we might see him.
Season 7 finishes with a city-wide blackout. Since Amy goes into labour, Jake rushes to be there by her side. After several tense minutes, Amy and Jake are observed showing their newborn son, Mac. Goor revealed that the authors did not feel the need to finish the year on a cliffhanger, considering the show had been renewed for season 8. Additionally, the birth of Jake and Amy’s baby is a joyous moment that the authors did not want to interrupt by ending the season on an ambiguous note. The founders wanted to ensure that the series uses its voice to discuss major issues, as it has in the seasons before.
Therefore, season 8 will center on the Black Lives Matter movement. Andre Braugher shared that the show will need to depict the authorities”more virtually” to emphasize that they are not above the law. He added that although doing this will be a struggle for the comedy series, it has the capability to be a”revolutionary season” It’ll highlight the light on Jake and Amy’s new role as parents as they attempt to do their best in the professional sphere. Their baby, Mac, will play a significant part in the shenanigans.
Another real problem the series will touch upon is the COVID-19 pandemic. Dan Goor told “We think there is a worth to escapism, but at the same time, we don’t wish to become ignorant. There are a debate about what the next year will look like. I don’t think anybody wants us, nor do we want to, have our characters toiling from the depths of the pandemic. I don’t think that’s the way we’ll go ” But the lovers need not worry because the show has ever released quality humour even when it brings up sensitive issues.
