Marvel Studios has plans for Wakanda beyond the second part of Black Panther on the big screen. The latest news is that Ryan Coogler , director of the film starring Chadwick Boseman and the future sequel, is developing a series set in the Kingdom of Wakanda for Disney + .
The project is part of the five-year agreement signed by the filmmaker and his production company, Proximity Media, with the streaming platform, and will include other series on which, according to Coogler, he is already working.
“It is an honor to partner with The Walt Disney Company,” Coogler said in a statement. “Working with them at Black Panther was a dream come true. As big TV consumers, we couldn’t be happier to be launching our own TV business with Bob Iger, Dana Waldern and the amazing studios under the Disney umbrella. We look forward to learning, grow and build a relationship with audiences around the world through Disney platforms. “We are especially excited to take our first leap with Kevin Feige , Louis D’Esposito , Victoria Alonso and their peers at Marvel Studios, where we will be working closely selecting MCU series for Disney +.We are already involved in some projects that we are eager to share “.
“Ryan Coogler is a unique storyteller whose vision and scope have made him one of the filmmakers of his generation. We are looking forward to strengthening our relationship and telling more stories with him and his team,” said Bob Iger, director of The Walt Disney Company. in compliments, in addition, towards Black Panther.

No further details have been advanced about the series set in Wakanda but it seems possible that we can see in it some of the characters we met on the big screen , such as Okoye – played by Danai Gurira – or Shuri, Letitia Wright’s character , forming part of the frames to a greater or lesser extent.
Be that as it may, we are eager to discover what else Wakanda can offer us, this African nation that was not freed from colonialism and was able to become one of the richest and most technologically advanced nations on the planet.
The project joins the increasingly long list of Disney + original series within the MCU that premiered Scarlet Witch and Vision on January 15. She will be followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier , Loki , Moon Knight , She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel , among others.
Following the death of Chadwick Boseman last year, Marvel has been readjusting its plans for Black Panther 2 , which is expected to begin filming this year with a release scheduled for July 8, 2022.
