NCS Group, the leading conglomerate with more than 60 years of successful presence in diverse industries has played a significant role in regional economic development. But along with this spectacular industrial journey, the Group has also built a distinct social identity, rooted in healthcare access, elder care, cultural preservation and public welfare.
Over its journey as a business group with many undertakings, one key theme has been central to NCS Group’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. The Group has always believed in giving back to society, not as periodic outreach, but as institution building. Through its CSR arm, the NCS Charitable trust, they have invested in social infrastructure designed to serve communities across generations.
The Roots of NCS Charitable Trust
The NCS Charitable Trust was born from the noble vision of Late Sri Narayanam Narasimha Murthy, a man who lived his life as an offering to God and humanity. A devoted Ramabhakta, he spearheaded numerous charitable causes, including significant contributions to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, the construction of the Vasavi Samstha at Srisailam, and the erection of a magnificent 18-foot Ganesha statue in Kakinada.
In the 1950s, the Maharaja of Vizianagaram conferred the title “Dharma” upon Sri Chalamayya, father of Sri Narayanam Narasimha Murthy, in recognition of his remarkable philanthropic contributions and for organizing 108 Sri Rama Kalyanams, 108 Sri Rama Pattabhishekams, and the grand Mahasamrajya Pattabhishekam — a celebration that brought the entire town together for more than two weeks.
This legacy continues under the stewardship of his wife Narayanam Nagaratnam, along with his sons Narayanam Nageswara Rao (Chairman, NCS Charitable Trust), Narayanam Murali, and Narayanam Srinivas, who serve as trustees of the charity. Together, the family remains deeply committed to advancing the charitable initiatives envisioned by the founder, ensuring that his mission and values continue to guide every social endeavor.
In recognition of the family’s enduring service to society and the contributions of the charitable trust, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has named a prominent road in Vizianagaram town as NCS Road, and the Government of India has also released a commemorative postal stamp on the Ramanarayanam Temple.
Expanding Access to Healthcare
One of their milestone projects has been the establishment of a 120-bed free eye hospital, built to provide accessible and quality healthcare to the underserved sections of society. Vision care is a critical but often neglected need in many communities and by building dedicated infrastructure, the hospital fulfils a key gap and helps patients prevent blindness and visual impairment, improving the quality of life for thousands of beneficiaries.
The focus has been on sustained medical service delivery rather than episodic health camps, ensuring continuity of care and long-term impact.
Dignified Support for Senior Citizens
With the ever-increasing demand for structured elder care, the NCS Charitable Trust has supported the development of an old age home that provides shelter, care, and dignity to senior citizens. This project shows a deep commitment towards real issues and understanding that social responsibility goes far beyond economic contribution. Designing a safe and supportive ecosystem for elderly residents, this project by the trust contributes to social security at the grassroots level.
Cultural and Spiritual Stewardship
NCS’ CSR footprint also includes cultural and spiritual initiatives that serve as community anchors. Through the development of the Ramanarayanam Temple and Valmiki Research Center, along with associated institutions such as a Veda Patashala, Goshala, and meditation facilities, the Group has contributed to preserving traditional knowledge systems and cultural continuity.
In addition, the trust has supported several temple-related initiatives, including contributions to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. Among these is the construction of the Padmavathi Nilayam guest house in Tirumala, which provides clean, affordable, and comfortable accommodation for pilgrims visiting the sacred hills. The trust has also donated 108 cows and supported temple infrastructure, reflecting a long-term commitment to sustaining faith-based institutions that play an important role in community cohesion.
These initiatives go beyond symbolism, creating structured spaces for learning, reflection, and collective engagement.
Strengthening Public Spaces
In addition, the development of public amenities such as the Dharma Charamayya Municipal Park further demonstrates the Group’s broader view of social responsibility. Accessible green spaces and community areas contribute to physical wellbeing, social interaction, and urban quality of life. It is projects like these that reinforce the idea that social infrastructure is as vital as economic infrastructure in building resilient communities.
An Institutional Model of CSR
What distinguishes NCS’ approach is its emphasis on continuity and structure. By operating through an organized charitable framework, the Group has ensured that its social initiatives are not one-time gestures but sustained commitments.
The model integrates multiple pillars:
- Healthcare accessibility
- Elder care support
- Cultural preservation
- Public welfare infrastructure
Together, these efforts form a holistic social ecosystem that complements the Group’s industrial presence.
A Legacy Defined by Institutions
As NCS Group continues its broader journey in business and industry, its contributions in healthcare, elder care, and cultural stewardship stand as a parallel legacy, one measured not in production output, but in institutions built and lives supported.
In an evolving corporate landscape, NCS’ CSR journey illustrates how enterprises can move beyond compliance and philanthropy to create lasting social infrastructure that strengthens communities for the long term.
