How much RAM does one smartphone really need? If you are a phone brand making gambling phones, the answer is”up to humanly possible.” That’s the approach ASUS is carrying with the ROG Phone 5, which will package up to 18GB of RAM.

The 18GB LPDDR5 portable DRAM module comes from SK Hynix, a semi-conductor based in Seoul, South Korea. In a statement released now, SK Hynix said the new chip runs at no more than 6,400Mbps, which will be approximately 20% faster than previous LPDDR5 DRAMs available on the market. The release also states SK Hynix has formally begun mass production of the processors, and the initial batch is making its way to ASUS’ ROG Phone 5.

The ROG Phone 5, which will be scheduled for unveiling on March 10, will be powered by all the newest, highest-end specs, such as a Snapdragon 888, high-refresh OLED screen, and needless to say, the 18GB of RAM at the top end variants. The device is also likely to sport a back design with dot-matrix technology built-in. The shoulder trigger buttons are expected to return as well.

We here at XDA loved the ROG Phone 3, so this direct sequel (the brand jumped the number 4 because of Chinese superstitions) has a lot to live up to. We all know it won’t be lacking in memory, that’s for certain. SK Hynix’s statement also added that the processor was created to get”premium smartphones to encourage an optimal atmosphere for matches with a high-resolution image and also high-quality videos,” along with the ROG Phone 5 definitely will take advantage of this.

Recent leaks also imply that ASUS will bring back the 3.5mm headphone jack using the ROG Phone 5 and it could sport 65W fast wired charging. The apparatus will likely run a near-stock construct of Android 11 from the box, with a couple of gaming-related developments from ASUS. We’ll allow you to understand as soon as we learn more about this ROG phone 5.
