New Delhi: Most of the private and public sector banks across the country will remain closed on the occasion of Janmashtami. However, there is a lot of confusion among people regarding the date. Where a section of the country celebrated Janmashtami on Thursday, 18 August. At the same time, in some states, the festival is being celebrated today on August 19. Not only banks, there is confusion for government offices and educational institutions as well.

The Haryana government had notified in a circular that Janmashtami would be observed on August 19 in government offices and educational institutions instead of August 18. Apart from Haryana, banks and offices in other northern states will also remain closed for public on August 19.
