Anil’s Early Life and Family
Anil Kapoor is an Indian actor and film producer. He has appeared in more than hundred Hindi-language films, as well as international films and television series. Born on 24 December 1956 in Chembur, Mumbai, Anil Kapoor belongs to a Punjabi Hindu Khatri family. His parents are Nirmal Kapoor and Late Surinder Kapoor. His father was also a film producer. Kapoor got his school education from Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School in Chembur. Later, he joined the St. Xavier’s College, in Fort, South Mumbai. However, he did not finish his college as he was expelled due to low attendance.
In 1984, Anil Kapoor and Sunita Bhavnani married each other. Sunita is a costume designer, fashion stylist and a former model. The couple has two daughters and a son. Sonam Kapoor (born 1985) is their elder daughter and she is an actress. Their younger daughter Rhea Kapoor (born 1987) is a film producer and their son Harshvardhan Kapoor (born 1990) is an actor.
His Career Trajectory
In 1979, Anil debuted in the Hindi cinema from the film Hamare Tumhare. He had a cameo role in the film as Vipin. However, in 1983, Anil featured in the lead role in the film Woh Saat Din. It was a romantic drama which was produced by his father and big brother Boney Kapoor.

Anil played a game show host in Slumdog Millionaire. As a result, it fetched him international visibility and recognition. From thereon, he featured in 24 which is a 2010American TV Series. 24 is an action-drama series starring Kiefer Sutherland in the lead as special agent Jack Bauer. In 2011, Anil Kapoor was part of the Hollywood film Mission Impossible- Ghost Protocol.
In the year 2002, Anil Kapoor produced his first film, the comedy Badhaai Ho Badhaai. Anil also starred in the film. Post that, Anil produced My Wife’s Murder (2005), Gandhi, My Father (2007) ,and Aisha (2010). In the movie, Aisha, he featured his daughter Sonam Kapoor in the lead role. The film is an adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma.
Anil Kapoor’s career has spanned 40 years as an actor in Bollywood and internationally, and as a producer since 2005.
