New Delhi: Former Union Minister Anand Sharma has resigned from the post of President of Himachal Pradesh Congress Steering Committee. Anand Sharma wrote on Twitter, “I have resigned from the chairmanship of the Congress Steering Committee for Himachal elections with a heavy heart. Reiterating that I am a lifelong Congressman and stand by my beliefs.

Sharma further said, “I am committed to the ideology of Congress which runs in my blood, no doubt about it. However, given the constant humiliation as a self-respecting person, I had no choice.”

According to sources, Sharma has said in a letter to Sonia Gandhi that I was neglected in the consultation process. However, he has told Sonia Gandhi that he will continue to campaign for party candidates in the state. He has reportedly said in his letter to the Congress President that his self-respect has been hurt as he has not been consulted or invited for any meeting of the party.

Was appointed as the chairman of the steering committee on 26 April

The former Union minister and deputy leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha was appointed as the chairman of the steering committee in Himachal Pradesh on April 26. Sharma is considered one of the big leaders of Himachal Pradesh. Sharma first contested the assembly elections in 1982 and was given a Rajya Sabha ticket by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984, has been a Rajya Sabha member since then and has held several key positions in the party.

Azad had also resigned five days ago
