Amitabh Bachchan reveals Abhishek played Captain Vikram Batra in LOC: Kargil

In the recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 13, The hot seat was graced by Dr Ashwini Kumar Sinha and on that very episode, Big B also unveiled his son Abhishek Bachchan played the role of Vikram Batra in LOC: Kargil.

On the day in the year 1999 Captain Vikram Batra, PVC was martyred. The nation always remembers one of its most all-embracing war heroes. The movie freaks soon will be able to get the chance to observe his story on the big screen in Karan Johar’s Shershaah starring Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role. The most loving movie of the nation showcases the fearlessness of the Kargil war hero. And it also gave the audience a cheat glimpse into his personal life.

Shershaah was not the only first film, Vikram Batra has been depicted on the big screen. Back in the year 2003, Abhishek Bachchan performed the heroic character in JP Dutta’s ambitious war epic – LOC: Kargil. The movie failed and did not do that well at the box office. But nevertheless, Abhishek Bachchan was unbeaten in dropping an impact on the minds of the spectators with his accomplishment. Abhishek was one of the few actors to shine amidst its massive star cast and possibly the only one who is still remembered from the war drama.

While the movie LOC Kargil was still in its making, Abhishek Bachchan had also got a chance to meet Vikram Batra’s twin brother Vishal Batra in Chandigarh. In an interview, The actor had called it a rare honor and revealed insights from their conversation.

Luckily for me, I met Captain Batra’s twin brother Vishal in Chandigarh. It was one of the rare honors of my life. My role is a tribute to him and all the armed forces people of this country,” Abhishek said.
“I was told by Vishal that Captain Batra was a great fan of my father’s Amitabh Bachchan’s acting. I felt good hearing that. All said and done, I told him I would never be able to achieve in my life what Captain Batra did for our country,” he added.

Apart from Abhishek Bachchan, the movie featured Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana, Sanjay Kapoor, Nagarjuna, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Raveena Tandon, among others.

Abhishek had also announced his views on the life changed film LOC Kargil. “People in cities just don’t know about the contribution of the jawans and our soldiers on the border. When I came back to Mumbai after shooting LoC-Kargil, I realised we live a happy and cosy life only because our soldiers die every day at the border. We should be thankful to them every day,” he said before adding, “My first reaction when I came back home was, ‘What the hell I am doing in this city? I have not done anything great in my life compared to those in the armed forces.”

One Twitter user wrote, “#ShershaahTrailer is awsm. No offence to Siddharth Malhotra (awsm actor did a good job ) but I think @juniorbachchan played Capt. Vikram batra (pvc) way better in #LocKargil movie. (Was more energetic especially in that dialogue – ye Dil mange more, Durga Mata ki Jai).” Abhishek replied with a folded hands emoji.
