In a landmark moment for India’s independent music scene, GAPPU, the trailblazing Made-in-India percussion brand, has announced its newest collaboration with one of the country’s most acclaimed drummers — Yadhunandan Nagaraj, fondly known as Drummachari.
A percussionist par excellence, Yadhunandan is best known as the groove engine behind the iconic Carnatic rock band Agam. With a drumming journey that began at age 13, his rhythmic vocabulary draws from deep classical training, fused with a love for stage energy and experimentation. Over the past decade, he has become a flag-bearer for the evolving language of Indian rhythm — rooted in tradition yet fearless in innovation.
Now, this passion finds a new voice through a powerful collaboration with GAPPU.
“We’re not just launching a product — we’re rewriting the soundscape of Indian cajons,” says GAPPU co-founder Pallab Ghosh.

Together, GAPPU and Drummachari have unveiled India’s tallest handcrafted cajon — a percussion masterpiece designed especially for Yadhunandan, who stands at an impressive 6 feet 4 inches. The Gappu Drummachari Signature Cajon has been engineered to match his frame, power, and dynamic playing style, and the cajon size is 15 x 15 x 25 inches. It is the first time such a customized instrument has been built in India, marking a new era of personalization in the percussion community.
Beyond its height, the cajon boasts enhanced bass projection, deeper tonal range, and a robust birchwood body — making it a stage-friendly powerhouse for serious players.
What This Collaboration Means:
- For GAPPU, it cements their status as innovators, redefining Indian percussion instruments for global standards.
- For Drummachari, it is a sonic canvas that lets him stretch the limits of what’s possible with a cajon.
- For musicians across India, it is an invitation — to dream louder, play bigger, and celebrate the art of rhythm.
As Gappu continues building a tribe of forward-thinking artists across India, this partnership with Drummachari is more than symbolic — It is historic.
“We’re building a percussion revolution. This is just the beginning,” Drummachari shares.
Welcome to the sound of the future. Welcome to Gappu x Drummachari.
