Poshak Chikan Studio was created to tackle issues of misrepresentation of traditional Lucknowi apparel, which several brands created with machine embroidery but sold as authentic products. This had adverse effects on local artisans, who lost jobs, resulting in inflated prices and a complicated supply chain. This motivated Sanaullah and Shahnara to start something of their own that could go beyond the conventional norms of the industry and offer people something that could ooze originality and authenticity in every piece of Lucknowi Chikankari cloth.
The founders recall how they understood the industry issues and founded Poshak Chikan Studio in 2020 amidst a global health pandemic as a Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) brand. Over the past four years, they encountered innumerable obstacles and challenges on their path as newcomers in the industry, where they lacked a business degree and prior expert experience. However, their passion, a genuine aim to offer customers authentic Lucknowi Chikankari work, and their dedication and perseverance enabled them to overcome these challenges and build a thriving community of loyal customers who trust Poshak Chikan Studio like no other brand when it comes to 100% handcrafted Chikankari garments.
