‘Paagal’, which encountered a theatrical release in the August of this year is all set to get released on the OTT platform of Amazon Prime Video. It is a romantic comedy- a RomCom directed by debutant filmmaker Naresh Kuppili.
The Telugu movie Paagal will be digitally premiered on the OTT platform on the 3rd of September this year. It was confirmed by an official declaration this Wednesday on 1st of September in Amazon Prime Video. Originally the movie had its theatrical release already in August. The leading stars of the movie include the following Vishwak Sen, Nivetha Pethuraj, Simran Choudhary, and Megha Lekha.
Amazon Prime will telecast the movie on its platform on September 3rd in Indian and across 243 other nations. The movie would be provided with subtitles. The movie was already a blockbuster in theatres on August 14th. It had received decently hit responses from the viewers. And now within less than a month, the Paagal crew has opted for Amazon Prime Video for its other release.
Vishwak Sen’s PAAGAL Storyline
This movie Paagal was set in the beautiful city of Visakhapatnam. It revolves around the central character Prem- an exuberant young man, who out of melancholy after losing his mother moves forward to seek the love of his life. During his pursuit of finding love, he encounters multiple females and falls for them. Amazon Prime Video stated the story as – Prems’s quest leads him to multiple women he falls for until the cupid truly strikes and brings along with it challenges Prem hadn’t bargained for’. The movie has a running time of 138 minutes.

The actor Vishwak Sen is famously known for his films like Falaknuma Das, Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, and Hit. His recent movie Hit which had a crime thriller genre in 2020 was also digitally premiered through Amazon Prime Video. The next actor Nivetha Pethuraj has also been seen in both Telugu and Tamil films. His remarkable roles in movies like Ala Vaikuntapuramuloo, Chitralahari, Mental Madhilo, and Brochevarevarura are also loved by his fans.
Vishwak Sen’s PAAGAL Release Date
The first look of the poster for the film Paagal was out on 2 February 2021. After that, the team announced the release date to be 30 April 2021. However, due to the second wave of the pandemic, the makers released a new date as 1st May 2021. Later the movie was postponed again with the similar conditions of the second wave of COVID 19.
Box office
The film was successful in collecting a gross amount of ₹3.15 crore and ₹2.50 crore on the first and second day of its release. Within the same time frame, the movie grabbed a distributor’s share of ₹2.64 crores.
Reviews
The movie encountered mixed reviews. According to The Times Of India, Neeshita Nyayapati gave a rating of 2.5/ 5.0 stating –Paagal is an over-drawn yet quirky love story with a flimsy storyline guiding you through it. And does have its redeemable qualities though.
The Hindu expressed the movie a typical bizarre romcom drama — The story idea of a man seeking mother’s love from his life partner is contrived; it’s time the on-screen lover boys get real and grow up” as reviewed by Sangeetha Devi.
